One of the greatest things about living in Flagstaff, AZ is that there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy time outdoors. There are two dozen neighborhood, community, and regional parks that can be found within city limits. Today, we’re highlighting some of our favorites.

1. Buffalo Park

If you’re looking for a fairly quick workout, fresh air, and scenic mountain views, we cannot recommend Buffalo Park at 2400 N Gemini Rd enough. This 215-acre regional park features a 2.2-mile loop trail that is wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly. This well-maintained, flat, multi-use trail is great for cycling, walking, dog walking, and photographing Mt. Humphreys, Mount Elden, and wildlife.

However, you don’t have to run the whole loop to get a good workout in. You can also work up a sweat at the exercise stations in the park. Also, there are restrooms, water fountains, and picnic tables.

2. Bushmaster Park

You also can’t go wrong with spending the afternoon at Bushmaster Park at 3150 N. Alta Vista. This 20-acre park packs in a lot of fun things to do, including a skate track and a dog park. There is also a playground that your kids can play on if they are restless. You can also find four horseshoe pits, two lighted tennis courts, two lighted basketball courts, and a sand volleyball court.

This park is fantastic if you want to host family get-togethers or anniversary or birthday parties. There are four medium pavilions and two large ramadas that can accommodate up to 200 people. The large South Ramada, which accommodates up to 95 people, and the North Ramada, which accommodates up to 40 people, even feature handicap-accessible picnic tables.

3. Foxglenn Park

Foxglenn Park at 4200 E Butler Avenue is another great park to visit if you want to enjoy an afternoon outdoors with your family. Here, you will find a skate track, two soccer fields, a youth softball field, and a playground. You can also find a full-size basketball court and a half-size basketball court.

This park is also great for picnicking and walking. Near the entrance of the park, you can access Foxglenn Trail which traverses 1.9 miles before ending at Herold Ranch Road. Roughly one-fifth of this trail is concrete, while 1.6 miles is aggregate. For a great workout, hop onto the Switzer Wash Trail that intersects it.

While there are dozens of outdoor recreational areas in Flagstaff you can enjoy, you need a dependable car to get you there. If your current car is more trouble than it is worth, contact us now at Genesis of Flagstaff to schedule a test drive of a 2023 Genesis GV80.
