4 Signs Your Genesis Needs a Brake Repair

The braking system of your Genesis vehicle consists of several components. Over time, those components will degrade, and you’ll have to undergo a brake repair for your vehicle. At your local Genesis dealer, a technician can inspect your braking system and fix any issues that occur.

1. You Hear Squealing Sounds

Squealing sounds that come from your vehicle are an obvious sign that the braking system needs to be repaired. This typically indicates that the brake pads are pretty worn down. Once you hear the squealing sound, that means the clock is ticking for you to replace those brake pads.

Keep in mind that metal is grinding up against metal when you hear that squealing sound. You’ll need to repair the brakes on your vehicle immediately because the problem will only get worse. You could end up damaging your rotors, which can also be costly to repair.

2. Your Car Vibrates When You Use the Brakes

Another sign that your braking system needs a repair is when your car shakes inordinately when you press down on the brake pedal. This can happen when the rotors in your vehicle are completely warped. The vibration will also get worse over time if you don’t do anything to fix it.

It’s never a good thing when any vibration occurs as you’re driving your vehicle. This is one of the more obvious indications that something is wrong. If your vehicle vibrates when you use the brakes, you should avoid driving it and get it to a service center as soon as possible.

3. Your Car Doesn’t Decelerate Properly

You may also notice that when you use the brakes, your car doesn’t decelerate as it should. Instead of coming to an immediate stop, your vehicle takes longer than normal to slow down when you’re approaching stop signs and traffic signals. This often happens because of an issue with your vehicle’s braking system.

Problems with deceleration typically occur because there’s a leak in your braking system. Your vehicle distributes fluid via the brake line, which is responsible for applying force when you press down on the brake pedal. When the brake line is leaking, you’ll need to fix it right away.

4. Your Brake Pedal Feels Squishy

When you press down on the brake pedal, you may also notice that it feels spongy or squishy. This phenomenon occurs when air gets trapped inside your brake lines. The air prevents your vehicle’s brake fluid from flowing properly, thus creating difficulties while braking.
