4 Fun Summer Activities You Can Drive to Near Flagstaff, AZ

You may not know this, but living near Flagstaff, AZ offers you access to plenty of fun summer activities. You can spend the entire day having the time of your life with your friends and family! Now’s the time to begin planning your next epic adventure!

1. Visit the Lowell Observatory

The Lowell Observatory is a great place to visit if you want to learn more about astronomy and the solar system. You can check out the 4.3-meter Lowell Discovery Telescope, which is one of the largest telescopes in the United States! The observatory also offers an astrophotography course, which teaches you about processing the images of objects in deep space.

There are also plenty of different exhibits that you can check out at the Lowell Observatory. They include the Putnam Collection Center, the Pluto Discovery Dome, and several virtual exhibits. You can spend your entire day learning about the majesty and wonder of outer space!

2. Visit Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course

If you’re a thrill-seeker, then you have to visit the Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. While there, you’ll discover obstacles, action elements, and zip lines throughout the entire park. Many people come here just to push themselves to the limit and test their boundaries!

The adventure course is the main attraction, and it’s situated in an elevated position. There are five total courses that feature 80 different obstacles. You’ll encounter suspended bridges, nets, and an aerial skateboard! Zip lines are suspended at 15 to 80 feet in the air.

3. Tour the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park

If you love living in Flagstaff, then you should learn more about the city’s history. A visit to the Riordan Mansion State Historic Park will inform you about the economic and cultural origins of the area. Guided tours and special events take place at the park throughout the year.

Timothy and Michael Riordan were responsible for galvanizing the local economy in Flagstaff. They founded a mega-successful logging business and built their historic mansion in 1904. The interiors have been preserved and look exactly as they did over 100 years ago.

4. Visit Downtown Flagstaff

Downtown Flagstaff is also a fun and vibrant place to visit. There’s always a lot of activity going on in the area, and you can check out several different boutiques, art galleries, breweries, restaurants, and more. Many buildings from the 1890s in downtown Flagstaff have been revitalized and restored.
